Hello There!
We have begun a new semester and many things have changed. Each new semester we get new kids and I have a new school. For a few reasons this has been a very good change.
Now that everything is more stable, my earth science classes are going to be setting up their tank. We have some items but just need a few more items:
1) Instead of an RO/DI unit, maybe it would be easier to get RO/DI water!
So, since this is a 20g tank w/o sump 30-50g of water would be great (even if its in washed out milk jugs, we have tons of closet space in my new classroom).
2) Small PC light/anything appropriate, for the 20g we'll only keep softies and LPS, anemones and damsel/clownfish
3) Water chemistry kit, for the sake of group water testing labs
4) Right now I have a MJ1200 I'm not using, but I'm not sure if I should donate that too, because I'm using just 1 in my 65g and it's a lot of flow.... So, we might need a MJ 600 or so.
5) Small heater. The classroom generally is HOT, but I don't want to risk it. I just found out the extra 100w I have is broken!
'Everything' else I believe we have. I have crushed coral, the 20g (and some 10g if we ever get an appropriate overflow/pump set up for a sump/refuge in one system), 10g for chaeto and pod culture, 160g pail of salt, 'MJ 1200', hydrometer, mysis, some zoa's, yumas, (anything else soft in my tank really)
We're not trying for fancy or high tech. I had the new kids review the Shimek Marine Invert book in class last week and they loved it, even the kids that are seniors and want to be 'above it all' were 'grossed out' but intrigued by the feather worms!
