My Sailfin needs help!! Open wounds

I have a Sailfin that must have got caught in a rock slide and now he has open wounds to his upper forehead and on his chin. He tried to hide and made things worse by tearing up his fins. I tore down my tank and now have him in a 10 gallon Q-tank. Is there any medication i should give him? He is putting the top of his head out of the water. Whats with this?

What is important is to keep the water quality pristine and stress low. You need to get the fish to hopefully heal without it developing a secondary bacterial infection.

Feeding the fish enriched foods with vitamins and things like selcon and beta glucan will help boost the fishes immune system and promote healing.

I use Kanamycin, Nitrofurazone, or Mardel's Maracyn-2 (minocycline) for bacterial infections.

You could add an airstone to increase oxygen to the hospital tank. That might alleviate some stress on the fish as well.
