I bought a spaghetti leather (Sinularia flexibilis) for my nano cube/seahorse tank and I've noticed extremely long fine one sided feathers coming out and pulling quickly back in, what are these?
They are about 6" or more in length and the size of a spider web strand and look like the crappy pic I made below.
They open and retract within 5-10 seconds.
Is this a very agressive coral?
I've tried to do a search on it and nothing is coming up on that subject, or I stink at searcheshttp://www.reefland.com/forum/images/smilies/lol.gif

I'd guess only by the description that it is some sort of worm? Feather dusters? Leathers in general are not in my experience and knowledge agressive, I'd put it in with my horses maybe...I know others do and I haven't heard of reported problems. Can you get a picture of these things to try to get a more positive ID?

Not the best pic but I've since noticed the the horses are not bothered by them at all....

Looks almost like sweeper tentacles. If not,I would believe it to be a worm of some sort.I have one in my tank, but there are no problems with it.

Yep pretty sure it's one of those worms also, that or just some slime from the coral. I'm more on the side of worm and they just put out a string of goop and suck it back when they collect particles for it to eat. No prob here.

My spaghetti worms send out string type streamers like that, and i have can't remember off the top of my head right now what there called if I find them I'll post them again. theres a solid long tube like worm that produces them too. you'll usually see them growing off LR they look like a stick.

Weez, I have a toadstool that did the exact same thing. Never did find an explain for it tho. If you identify it, let me know. In the meantime, I'll see what else I can find.
