Hi, I am new to this forum and was very excited to see a seahorse section....unfortunatly when I started reading the posts I saw a lot of arguing and not much posting about seahorses. I am also a member of 2 other seahorse forums and I feel that the more info you get from as many places you can...can only help you and your horses.

I welcome you once again to the forum :) I've always wanted to do a seahorse tank. I just haven't had a chance to try it out.

Thanks! I have always wanted them also. I just never thought I could ever have them. Then I did research and found out that they aren't really any harder than having a reef tank. You just have to do your research.

Welcome!
Thank you. That's what i've been saying about different forums. There just aren't a lot of informative posts in this section yet, and other forums do, so if you have a seahorse related problem, you might get more help on other forums. I don't think that innocent seahorses should suffer because I can't recommend other forums as well. That's just selfish.

Ryguy,
it's easier than you'd think as long as you do research first. Give it a try with a couple of CB H. erectus in a 30 gallon tank with some tonga branch live rock, and maybe a few mushrooms.
Right nowi'm planning a 20 gallon H. erectus tank that will also be dedicated to ricordea florida. It's cycling right now...

Seaponiee, yes this is still a fairly new section of our Coral Forum home and please understand we are here to help best we can and I will personally appologize for our arguments here but please understand we are just trying to get the disagreements out in the begining I guess...I actually left one of the forums I am sure you are a part of because of what I felt was rudeness and asked for this to be opened here. Unfortunatly it has not turned out to be what I had hoped. Hopefully in the future we can make it better? Welcome to CF anyway I hope you find your home here as many of us have :)

Yeah, I apologize for the arguments too, but there are SO MANY opinions regarding seahorses that it's not even funny. There are opinions of foods, food brands, species to start with, tank size, TEMPERATURE (big one here, heh), how to raise fry, tank mates, corals, water flow, filtration, live rock/no live rock, artificial hitches, etc., etc., etc.....
BUUUUUUUUT this forum will get lots of informative posts eventually, hopefully sooner than later.

Welcome seaponie, I'm new here as well and just trying to see different perspectives. I think that's part of the probblem with some of the board is SO MANY opinions, How about we listen to other perspectives and not stand our ground that our way is the only/best way. Do your research and if something conficts it just may be the way that works for a particular situation. Try to follow up on it, I know some will just say it's wrong and there is some bad info/advice all over. But, we need to stay openminded to the fact that there are probably a million ways to make things work and none are really wrong, just different ways to do things.

Hi to sea poniee and sixfins! Glad to know I'm not the only new one on the block. It seems that we're all looking for as much information as possible. I haven't joined any other forums, but I have attempted to E-mail a few other folks to try to get some questions answered. At least when I posted my list of questions here, I got a reply! For me, that's a step in the right direction. As I mentioned in another post, I'd like to pick coral_diver's brain since my main interest is dwarves. You seem to have a lot of experience and knowledge, and even if I don't agree with everything, I'm sure I'll benefit from considering all the info you have to offer. Be talking with you all again soon!
