I wanted to start a prop tank outside and rely on 100% on natural sunlight for the lights
Is this possible?
Im from Hawaii so we got pretty stable weather and I took into consideration rain and natural things like animals and leaves falling in
what would be the best way to do this?

it may work but I dont know how well and you may have to worry about outside sources of pollution

I can't say that it woudl nto work but my guess would be that it would not work. Here is my reasoning:
1) Natural sunlight is going to cause you a huge algae problem in a self contained system like that. I think it might get so bad it would prevent you from ever being able to put anyhting in it.
2) You can't control heat. Durign a hot summer day teperature in that tank could go way above what you want to keep it at. YOu could end up cooking everything in the tank. Vice-a-versa if you do ever get cool night temperatures you could see the tank get too cold.....
3) Rainwater will mess with yoru salanity level and you would almost need to cover the tank and prevent rain form gettign in.
4) Animals ae another risk and could cause anyhting from messed up water chemistry to a broken tank.
5) YOu live in a state where you are never far from the ocean and on top of that you probably are not far from a great spot to go snorkeling or scuba diving. If I lived there I think I would jsut get certified in scuba- spend money on equipment and try to go diving every day that I could. The ocean and the world are much better and more diverse systems to explore and view than a fish tank is.....
