No idea where I would post this really..........

Anywho, I know that refugiums are good types of filtration for salt tanks, but has anyone ever heard of making one for a freshwater tank? If so, what would you do with them? I'd assume some sort of plant, but have no idea what sort. And as for the odd random other living stuff in them, also not a clue... Anyone have any ideas? Or if for some reason it couldn't work(though I don't see why not) why?

Unless you have digging herbivores like cichlids, why not make a planted tank? Freshwater plants are so beautiful right in the display. If you're looking to add more volume, you could certainly add a sump or wet/dry. In FW, nitrates aren't quite the problem they are in SW, so wet/dry filters are awesome.

I have cichlids and loaches:) Reason enough, the poor plants would be uprooted and possibly shredded. I have one mellon sword in their tank that will be moved once they start showing interest in digging. Right now my sweet little oscars would much rather beg for food than dig though
