my kenya tree corals are plagueing my tank, literally a forest. some are on the substrate where i can easily remove them. some however are attached to the main rockwork of the tank, and this is where i need help. how do i detach them from the rockwork without injuring them? i'm going to give some away and the rest i will try and see if the local petshops will trade me something for the rest. taking out the rocks and chipping them off is not an option, cause i would otherwise have to dismantle the rockwork. any ideas? thanks

I bought one this summer and it just had a baby. I was so happy. Now I am beginning to worry after hearing your problem. My first thought was a trade at the lfs. Thanks for bringing up your problem. I will stay on top of these guys so they don't go to plague proportions.

ok, no one has been able to answer my question yet. is there anyone out there that knows how to detach these corals from the rockwork without harming them?

They should be relatively easy to frag...if you don't want them at all, then you will have to try to "peel" them completely from the rockwork, or even take a chisel and remove a small part of the rock that they are attached to.

If you still want them, just not so big, take a very sharp razor and cut the stalk...they will grow from there again, but you can rubberband or maybe even glue the part you cut to a small piece of rock so you can give or sell them to your LFS.

If you weren't so far away I would gladly take them off you hands

is there a way to pry them off, cause i really don't want them, but yet i hate to kill them. if i could chisel them off, i would but the majority are on the main rockwork and taking the rocks out to chisel means dismanteling the rocks, and i don't want to do that.

If you can take the rock out for a couple minutes, take a razor blade and just try to peel it off the rock.
