Did I get the wrong sand?

Well it took a few days for my sand to settle after putting it into the tank and adding the water. And a few hours ago I leveled it all out and it got all cloudy again really easy. Does sand normally do this? I dont remember it doing this in my first tank. :thinkhard:

What kind of sand is it?? What size?? Really it sounds fairly normal for fine sand...

It sounds like any sand that I have ever used. It takes awhile for the sand to acclimate in the tank. Usually it take awile for the sand to clean it self. Alot of people wash it or rinse it before putting it in the tank. It just depends on what kind of sand that it is.

I'm with Ryan...if you didn't rinse it, it's pretty normal for that to happen. I rinse the sand before I add it to the tank. I just bought a 5 pound bag of CaribSea aragonite sand to put in my 2.5 and the bag states that it doesn't need rinsing. Uh huh, sure. I'm rinsing it. ;)

It does take a little while for bacteria to bind with the sand and weigh it down. You have nothing to worry about.
