My friends who are moving to SC this month, have a 30gal long tank, and they are selling it to me.
I want to make it a SW tank, and the prices of fish here are CHEAP!!!! I went to a pet store off base today and they had a lionfish that was 2,000 yen, thats less then $20!!! :w00t:
I was told everyone else gets their sand, water and rock from the ocean too :thinkhard:

Yes, Corey, you're hooked. Welcome to the life of the marine aquarist/addict, where if you find yourself without a tank, you're doomed to wander aimlessly, jonesing for your next glimpse of any imprisoned saltwater creature. It's a struggle just to get through the day, every day, until you finally break down and buy your own tank. Very sad. . .
Welcome back to the dark side!

I'm with Doc, a second Tank sounds great, but I would stay away from adding any thing from the ocean. or synthetic tanks are not the same as the ocean, we want to keep our glass boxes pretty parasitic free.

Why stay away from the ocean? The Live rock that you order from most places comes from the ocean correct? all thats missing with this is a shipping charge.

yes this is true your LR does come from the Ocean. but Most LR don't come directly from the ocean they usually bring it in from the ships and add it to there holding tanks and treat it before it goes out to use for sale.

Ah, well if I dont get it from the ocean, theres no tank for me, because I cant afford LR here as Im trying to save money for my next Mustang in the states.
If I get the rock and sand from the ocean, all I have to pay for is the fish and salt 8)

I knowa guy here on CF who got some of his sand from the ocean, but it was really really far down, and he had to cure it forever.I think doc foster and smiths lalo and tonga come straight from the ocean. Not a good idea though
