hi all
gosh it has been forever since i have been here. well, i have sold one of my 55 gallon tanks to a friend of mine, its working out well, cuz i gave her a sweet deal and i don't have much work anymore. anyway, my colt coral i have had since may, just seems to be shrinking. his polyps are open but it is so much smaller than when i got him. put him under a pretty good currrent now hoping that will help. he is under really low lights, but all my other soft corals seem to be doing well.
i have a pink cucumber coming today, should i know anything special (except to keep monster clown fish from eating it) ?
well, appreciate the help

Nice to see you around!! Colts are like that sometimes, for no apparent reason whatsoever they start shrinking away. Give it sometime under the new flow and hopefully it'll be fine. Has it been under the same lights all the time?

no, i had it under compact flourescent. 260 watts. and it was shrinking. so when i sold the tank, i thought why not try it in the other tank, so now it is under 15 watt tritons. looks better today. all the other corals i have are doing well, so thought i would give these a try. my toadstool now has 16 daughters,my red mushroom 3 little ones, my blue mushs are spreading too (or are trying, have to stop moving thier rock) also have yellow polyps coming today. thought i would give them a try. and 2 shaving brushes, anything special for them? my tank needed some green.

Back when I had a DSB I used to collect shaving brushes locally, but was never succesful with them. I even picked up some with sorrounding dirt being careful not to disturb the roots, no luck. Then I've never had any luck (good or bad) with any kind of algae other than chaeto in my fuge :D (I knock on wood untill my knuckles bleed)

well, my i dont know if the plants will do well, probably not, but they were free. they won't screw up my tank will they? if so they are history!!
my cuke is cute, looks like a big fat pink terd. now he has crawled up on a rock next to the colt coral, and has not moved. besides his little branch things that come out that is. is this normal behavior for a cuke? i would have not a clue. maybe just acclimating to the tank?
well, i thinki have finally got a midas blenny. man those things are hard to get around here. been waiting for my online store to get them. we ordered them, but now i see they are gone, hopefully we got ours. they are the cutest. then i think my tank is at max capacity.
well, thanks for the info on the brushes. how do you know when they r dead?

Congrats on getting your critters in :D . The brushes won't harm anything in the tank, if they are loosing their bristles then they're not doing so good, but you never know with algae, they could bounce bk any time. :D The cuke in doing normal cuke stuff ;) . Hope you get the Midas they're awesome fish, with unique personalities.

ya, loved my bi color, and i have a lawnmower whom i adore. but have heard great things about the midas, and they have such awesome color!! ya, my brushes are losing thier bristles and the hermits think i have ordered them dinner. so all will work out. glad to hear the cuke is just being a cuke. really like the thing, adds lots of color, i just got the impression he would like the sand bed, but then again, my fish never ever follow rule of thumb  i think i will go through another company soon if i cannot get the midas. really would like to have one, been waiting over a year for this company to get one, they finally did. hope our order was first :?
later!!

hey, my s having brush lost a bunch of bristles, but seems to have evened out now, then my brittle star decided it was going to try it for lunch had it pulled under a rock with him. noticed the brush had lots of new roots. so after a short fight i moved the brush to the other side of the tank. i think it may be doing ok!!
