Hi Jeremy
and first off Welcome to the forum. Like doc posted ask any question No question is to big or to small. and to help a little you might want to start here. http://www.coralforum.com/kb.php
and have fun, and good start on the tanks.
and from what I seen in your 75 full tank picture you might want to up your water flow a bit. that will help keep that Algae off those rocks.

I was wondering about that. I have one extra powerhead down there under the tank but I have no idea where the mounting bracket is. I'm sure I can figure something out though. I'll deffinantly take the advice though cause I was concerned about the water flow anyway.
Thanks for the welcome guys and as soon as I get a polarizing filter for my camera I'm sure the pictures will improve as well.

What do you plan to do with your 75? FOWLR or Reef?

Welcome to the forums!First of all verey nice tank.
I hate to be a bearer of bad news hear but those look like aiptasia there in the back, plus they are big ones so they will multiply about any time.If you dont have any corals in there right now i would suggest you git a peppermint shrimp to wipe those out!

I think they are curly cue anemones. Aiptasia don't usually get that big, if they even can.

I'm completely undecided. I like fish but I'm a bigger fan of corals and invertebrates. I'm very open to suggestion at the moment. While I knwo what alot of the things involved are I am completely new at running a tank of this size and its possibilities.
I was told those were aiptasia before but the one in the middle in the back is freakin huge. I'll see if I can't get a better picture of it sometime tonight. There are 3 that I can plainly see and to be honest none of them are small.

Man your lucky!Alot of guys go there whole fish keeping career and dont git tanks that size. You can keep all kinds of large tangs butterflies and angles. Not to metion an enormous variety of smaller fishes.

well at first I would suggest Just going FOWLR. then you could slowly work on getting your up grades if you want to go reef. like lights a sump if you want to go that way, if not I would suggest a closed SWCD loop. http://www.melevsreef.com/how_to_build.html
for water circulation..
and if you could get a closer picture of those so called aiptasia we could get a better ID for you.
one word of advice go slow and figure out where you want to go with your tank, see what equiptment is best suited for what you want and see if you want to send that kind of money...
but beside that have fun.

Here's the pictures of the alleged aiptasia. It's pretty far back there on that rock. Didn't really have a good shot of the trunk.

I also got a shot of a couple of featherdusters that came out of one of the rocks I used to have in my 6 Gal. I never saw them before I put the rock in here.

I ahve some of those little red feathers in my tanks as well, the biggest iv ever seen that species git is about the size of a dime.
Is there anyway you can git a side shot of the last pic? Those look like aiptasia...

The six gallon is still pretty much cycling. I just recently put that one rock, and that decorative plastic thing in there, along with the two Blue Devil Yellow Tails. They've started eating and I assume will be pooping up a storm in no time. That one is another one I haven't decided what to do with.

Just cause I'm still not sure if that is just a huge aiptasia or what.

Those in the third picture I'll probably leave be for now and see if they get any bigger. I plan on getting rid of those giant aiptasia soon. They are no above grabbing a whole piece of dried krill and consuming it as though it were a snack. I need to check my water this afternoon I think. There are only 2 fat Dominoes in there at the moment but this morning they looked as though they were losing color. And the crabs were running around like they were losing their minds.

I would check all perams, are you feeding only dry food?I had a similar thing happen to my perc(color loss)and gave him frozen food and his colored returned in a day or so.
And i would deffinatly not leave those large aiptasias in there, they can sting inverts, plus they could multiply at any time(when i say multiply i mean have about 100 little ones on your rock)ZAP EM' A.S.A.P
