Just wondering what do u feed your zoanthids?

most zoanthids get most of the nutrition from zooxanthellae. but protopalythoa Button polyps .by most common name are carnivorous filter feeders. they will eat small pieces of meat. mine like cyclopeeze. and all zoas eat dissolved organic matter.

Cyclopeeze are tiny crustaceans. You can feed them sparingly, because this is an extremely nutritious product. I use the freeze dried version and both fish and corals love it.

yeah what conni said. my fish didn't eat the flake up fast enough for me.
I like the frozen because I know theres no bi-produces in there. but that just me I monitoring my food intake closer and I can control my feedings better with the frozen stuff, for me it's easier to target feed with.
I get mine from. http://www.saltycritter.com/foods-cyclop-eeze.htm

yeah I use to feed my zoas home brew, but I don't have to many palys or yellow polyps that are more carnivorous, I'd say 7/8th of my zoas get most of there nutrition from my lighting. plus I've found upping my water flow and not direct feeding my zoas they have been doing a lot better I'm thinging food that didn't get eatin would lay amoungest my colonies and decay and it seemed my colonies got more fungia infections.

Do you have them on the bottom of your tank? they could of got use to your PC's and it just shock them a bit because your MH have more punch then the PC's.
when they were in my tank they were under some good water current and 250Watt MH. about midway in my tank.

Cyclopeeze is very high in nutrients so be very careful not to overfeed. A little pinch every couple of days is enough IME. A fozen bar could last me for over 2 mos.

I see you are using Marine Snow...how's that working for you? I ask because I have had 3 different sources tell me that it basically spending $9 in milky water...

I have a bottle but it apprears to do nothing like they say...Just wondering.

Ps..I use Frozen Cyclopeeze just sahve it off the bar once a day. Also mysis and brine..

Also use DT's Phyto..

Thats all the tank gets from me..I have loads of zoos and poylps too.

I've read the same about "Marine Snow". And I basically feed my tank the same as Todd.

Marine Snow is definately a waste of money. There was a study done by Inland Reef years ago that found it was truly almost all water.

zoanthid polyps feed via photosynthesis and by absorbing dissolved nutrients. You don't really have to feed them with much in the typical reef tank.

I agree with you there Mantis, a few of my Paly's I'll feed once in awhile it seems to keep up there colors. but since I quit trying to feed them I don't seem to loose as many to fungis problems now. they already get enough debris caught in there mat I don't need to add un eaten food to it.
