Powerbuy at RDO and I'm thinking I might get one to use on the 30 cube. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this particular one or any phosphate reactor in general?

I really like the new Phosban Reactor by two fishes.....My Kent reactor leaks...It is hard to get the top on...the new two fishes reactor the whole lid just screws on...no longer 10 bolts and nuts just a lid that screws on...I really like it and it doesn't leak!!!! Just my 2 Cents......:)

How did you make yours? I was thinking about making my own too, it would be nice to see pictures or something explaining how you did.

With this set up, isnt the flow backwards then? because with phosban reactors don't you want the flow going opposite of gravity so that it also creates a fluidized bed?
Also when you kill the power to a fluidized bed will it created a spike in ammonia, nitrites, and then finally nitrates? Or will it be some sort of super concentrated deep sand bed?

With marginal flow ...ie 50 gph you wont have that problem. it truly works, Alot units are made the same way. As long as the Material has a bubbling look on the surface it truly does not create that effect. I have used this sytem now for about 2 months and have not witnessed any spike in anything, Just a reduction in Phosphates. But you point is well taken, if flow was higher I would expect the samething.

I mean when you shut it off for extended periods of time, will the bacteria die off and cause an amonia spike (in the chamber)?

No I run it for extended periods and then replenish the Filler, I rinse it well. But I do use it for Carbon 24/7 and never turn it off except to change carbon. Nitrites are minimal. But the benefit of the carbon to my coraline is to good to pass up.
