Hi
I recently got a yellow leather( 2 weeks ago ) and It has been doing ok. Its been expanding very well but still no polyp extension, just looks bumpy. Ive noticed in the past few days that the outer edges of the coral have been turning a different color. The edges are turning a more darker flourecent color of yellow and its shedding a slight waxy film. I know that these corals shed from time to time I have just never seen it. The tissue in question isnt rotting. I just dont know if this is a problem or natural behavior. My water per. are all in line and its getting good flow.
Any help would be great.

There are two types of yellow leathers. One is easy to keep and the other is difficult. You may have gotten the one that doesn't adapt to captivity well. The only other thing I can think of is that this one was just very stressed in transport and is taking a little longer to recover. Either way, it doesn't sound as if it's dying, so do what you're doing and cross your fingers. I'll cross mine too!

Agreed, some leathers might take up to a wekk to adapt.
