Protein Skimmer During Hypo

I got my new skimmer today, and I was just wondering...will the fact that my salinty is lower because of hypo affect the performance of the skimmer, though I am raising the salinity back to normal daily?

You'll probably see less skimmate until the salinity is higher. I would run it anyway. It will be broken in just that much sooner.
