This is a two part question.

First, is it worth it to pay the priemum for an oceanic, or is the brand all-glass just as good? I actually heard that all-glass owns oceanic, but i'm not sure if that's true or not.

The second part of this question is this:
I am looking between two different size aquariums. One is a 55G that's 48x13x20
One is a 65 that is 36x18x21.

I know that more gallons is better, but in a reef setup with a few fish is it more important to have a longer thinner tank, or a shorter fatter tank? If it's just personal opinion, i would think that the longer thinner thank would be better, and give more room to lay out and sculpt the reef. It would also seem that you get more viewing area and this would lead to a better tank. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

I have and Oceanic tank. The glass is quite a bit thicker than the AGA tanks. As far as longer or shorter goes, you'll have to take into consideration how you plan to light the tank. Depending upon the length of the tank, you may have to go with 2x MH fixtures. Shorter tank could get away with one because the MH light spread is about 24". This is, of course, assuming you are going with halides. ;).

I agree with sugar,I use Oceanic too. well built tanks. theres nothing wrong with AG tanks to , just a prefer oceanic over AG.
In my opinion the 55 gal dosen't make for the best reef tank. because it's so narrow. once you put your rock in there's Know room left in them.
I prefer wide shallow tanks there easier to get lighting for and you can center your rock better in the tank so you can get better water circulation all around your reef tank.
again just my opinion.

All-Glass -VS- Oceanic

All-Glass Owns Oceanic.

Oceanic is the premium line of aquariums.

In order from worst to best - Perfecto, All-Glass, Oceanic.

Oceanic's tanks are built with better quality glass (more clear...less green-ish hue). They bevil their edges so you have a nice, smooth, and professional looking edge to the sides of the tank.

I have two 140 Gallon Reef Ready Oceanic tanks in my home. I will not use anything else.

I personally think they are well worth the extra added expense.

I'm using a 65g AGA and i like the depth and the height of a 65g compare to a 55g. if you like 48" long tank why not go with a 75g it will give you the depth of a 65g and the lenght of the 55g.
