hey i was told by a freind u dont need skimmers if u just planning to keep a few live rocks and 1-2 fishes in a salt water tank (10gallon)
is this true? coz i have been raeding aroudn and it seems like its a must..
but i heard the skimmer is only need if u ahve corals? im kinda lsot can someone plz help tell me if i need it or not plz =)

Well that is a very debated topic but the way I see it is that if you just plan to keep one or two fish and just some LR (liverock). Then you should be ok with out a skimmer. You will tho have to put in an airstone to airate the water. But if you had a skimmer it would do that and help take out any bad things out of the water. The real purpose of a skimmer is to take pollutants out of the water column and make the tank a little easier to manage and create a better living enviroment for what you put into the tank. I hope this helps you a little bit with your decision.

I agree with Brad. In a tank that size, a skimmer isn't really necessary. Weekly 10% water changes will keep your water quality in check.

Ditto's.... But if you get one it really helps keep the water pristine and you will have it when you upgrade to the next tank!!!!
