Can anyone tell me why my tank is not clearing up ??? It has been running for a little over a week now...I have a 30 gal with a Penguin 330 Biowheel...20lbs of live sand, and 8lbs of Fiji live rock (i was going to put more in but i was worried about the cloudyness). Please Help me. Here is a couple of pics to help...

check you parameters as conni suggested. ammonia, salt and sand can cause cloudiness. i would add ther rest of the LR if i were you that way i can start the cycle. throw in a raw shrimp or 2 to start it as well. you have to wait for the cycle before u can add any livestock anyway.

Hey thanks everyone....I have the rest of my live rock in there now, and it is as clear as can be. I had my water tested Saturday by a local shop www.reefshop.com . Everything came back perfect except my PH which was just barely off and is good now after adding some PH buffer. I will take some pics tonight and have them up on here then. Looks like I will get my first fish this weekend...anyone have any good suggestions on starter fish ???

Very nice....Looking nice and clear now....
What kind of substrate are you using? Crushed coral (which is terrible to use) is notorious for being cloudy if it isn't rinsed extremely well. Some carbon should clear it up. Just be sure to take it out once a day and rinse it off or it will clog up and not do much good.

KG, it is sand. I can see from the photos.
As for your first fish?
I would not introduce anything fish wise at the moment as your biological system has not established itself yet.
I would start out with some snails and a few hermit crabs. This will help jumpstart your biological system. Wait about a week after the snails and crabs, then add 1 small to sm/med fish like a Clown, Chromis, Psuedochromis, etc.

I agree with Scott. A nice mix of snails will hep clean up the rock for you and help that biological bacteria increase. Is this going to be a FOWLR?

from what i read from your post is that your tank is only been running for 2 weeks when u got it tested. i would be a little concern about the result of those test. then again as ICEREEFER would say..."no two tanks are the same." my suggestion is don't add anything unless your 100% sure that your done with your cycle.
