ive been having some troubles with nitrates and was looking at sugar magnolias' 2.5 nano with the homemade hob refugium. i'm trying to keep it low cost and simple. i have a 29 gal with a red sea skimmer hob already. i looked online at cprs' smallest hob refugium measuring about 13" and only supporting 2.5 gallons. i really dont want to plumb would something like sugar made out of a aqua clear 70 or cprs' hob be adequate? or worth it? it would be replacing a conventional power filter. hob space is limited! :-D

Tim, I don't think something as small as the AC 70 would be of much benefit in a tank that size. (For a tank 10 gallons and under it's perfect) IMo you'd be better off using the of the CPR HOB fuge or even plumbing one inline with your tank. I'd usggest using the AC 110, but it measures 12" across and still wouldn't give you the volume that the CPR fuge would.

BTW, the CPR fuge is an excellent product. I've used one before on an old tank and was very happy with it. I used the Jali 13W light fixture over it.
