I've always called them a Rainford's Goby,(amblyobius rainfordi).
they like and need well established Live rock and good seeded sand beds.
will eat brine and mysid shrimp. they do well with most fish, very peaceful and shy at first but after awhile, will come right out while your by the tank looking for that free meal you might be feeding.
they don't do well with dottybacks, hawkfish or any other fish that like to pick on smaller fish.

ditto.

Also be careful. They like to sift sand. I had one and it would grab a mouthful of sand then while sifting would swim up over the rocks and spread the sand on my LR. Basically made a real mess. :doubt:

My freind has one and it will carry sand to the top of the tank and let it go in front of his powerhead. It really looks like it knows what it is doing, making a huge mess.

sounds pretty funny, thanks for the help. Also do they sift so much it creates a sandstorm? or is that just when there new and building a burrow?

They will sift all the time for food. You may or may not experience this problem. My LFS used to have one of these in one of their display tanks and it never seemed to make a mess. I just wanted to warn you that they may tend to spread the sand on to the rocks.

One last thing Matt. If you do decide to get that fish, ask the LFS employee to feed it some prepared food while you are there. I had one that refused to eat any prepared/frozen foods. Not even cyclop-eeze. :(
