I had my chaeto in my fuge for more than a month now and didn't see any changes ...all i see is that my fuge is cover with cyano algae coz i have 24/7 light in it.....what should i do? i just ask Icereefer for another order but i have to resolve this problem before i get more. any suggestion? by the way its under a 13w bulb with 65w output.
I'm not sure how much flow is in there. i split my overflow output into 2 one goes into the sump and the other goes into the fuge which the water flow into the sump via a 3/4" hole...the return pump is rio 2100 with 4' head

May be you should try increasing the lighting and see if that helps...there is a great bulb you can get at home depot...just forget what it is called...I think it is 6700k and I hear that it works great for growing macro!!!

Is the 'fuge new? When mine was new I went through the same thing. You might try some additional macros, and certainly leave the light on 24/7 so that the algae can outcompete the bacteria. Pull out the pieces that are coated, and if that ends up being most of it, add more. Eventually, I think the algae will win.

I agree if you have cyano, you have plenty of fuel for feed, Like conni wrote mine went threw the same thing setting up my new refuge in my 40 gal. I got cyanobacteria growing lite on both side of my refuge.for about a week once my chaeto took hold and started to take off, the cyano was gone. depending on the organic waste you have in your water column, you might have to much fuel and the cyano could be chocking out the chaeto and not given it time to grow.
but then again I know I probably started my refuge with more macro then what you started yours out with so like conni posted the cyano is outcompeted the chaeto.
if you need more chaeto, I can get you some. PM me on what you need . and I agree with Doc to my chaeto grows like crazy under my 65k. the lower the kelvin the higher the macro growth.

about the lighting...i have a 13w bulb from home depot which has an output of 65w is this enough...from the looks of it ...the cyano loves the lights.
as always thanks for the input...i'll do a water change tonite and scrab my fuge....hopefully that will help.
icereefer i'll send you the money for 2 more bags.
