Star Polyps looking Bad!!

Hi guys

I was wondering if I could get your thoughts please?

My star polyps were doing great then over the past 2 weeks they havent been doing too well. They dont look full when open. They are covered with what looks like sticky sand, but when I try to blow it off it doesnt budge.

Any ideas? A parasite or something?

I think it might be spreading to my other star polyp. My params are all good. 0-0-0.1

Got 150lb of live rock. 60 gal tank. Lots of flow 20x

Everything else in the tank is fine.

Any advice would be great :)

Looks like lots of detritus has built up in there. Take them out and gently brush the mat with a soft toothbrush in a bowl of tankwater to get off as much as you can. Give them a Lugol's dip (or andy coral disinfectant dip will do) after cleaning them. This, of course, is going to piss them off and they'll likely stay closed for a few days, but will reopen. Mine did.

Try to place them where they get constant flow that will help in the future. An the exact treatment Sugar reccomended is what I would've myself.

Agree....sometimes a turkey baster will clean off the stars also....

hey all :)
i got a toothbrush and cleaned all the rubbish off it, and SM your right they are really pissed off! :-D They havent opened except for one or 2. Its looks much better too, moved it higher in my tank where there is better flow. So guess now im gonna just wait and see how it goes.
