Water params:
temp: 79-80f
SG: 1.024
ammon: trace (too low to put a number on it, essentially 0)
nitrates: 0
nitrites: 0
ph: 8.7 (up from 8.2 yesterday)

I've been dosing with B-IONIC's 2 part calcium kit for about a week now, definately followed all the directions carefully (I've used it in the past and had no problems.) I haven't noticed any unusual precipitate any of the times I've used it. However, I was feeding my sunstar polyps with the turkey baster this evening and I noticed an unusual amount of white cloudiness coming off the LR around the polyps.

The only other recent changes to the tank are the addition of a YT today and a new Frog Spawn. Both came from the LFS and were doing great. The YT seemed to pale a bit and seemed a little stressed out (more so than when he was first added today). The only other change that I can think of is that I put a (clean) clip (previously used in my tank) in with a piece of Sea Veggies for the tang if he was hungry (he and the crabs wolfed that down). The lights have been on for 8 of their 10 hour cycle so I shut them off to help alleviate any stress on the fish as well as cut off the photosynthetic cycle for any algae in the tank. I'm also in the process of doing a 5g water change on our 46 bow.

Any additional advice for safely lowering the ph by .2-.3? Am I stressing for nothing here?

Oh yeah, I'm running a Magnum 350 w/Carbon (changed last week) and an AquaC Remora for a skimmer.

I think the white stuff is from some of your corals? I've heard of corals dischargeing mucus when added/stressed. I think the frogspawn might be one of these, i'm not completely sure so you may want to check up on it. If I was you, try to maybe take about 5 gallons of water out of your tank, and mix up 5 gallons of new saltwater that is at the pH of 8.2 and set it above the tank and let it drip into the tank over night so it goes slowly. Hope I helped.

What are you using to test the PH?? What is your alkalinity level?? This is probably a little late but if the lights are still on shut them off. Having the lights off will help lower the PH some.

B-Ionic makes a low PH solution... if in fact the B-Ionic raised your PH up that high you may want to find the low PH stuff.
