canister filter direct to skimmer

i have a 55g and i have a canister filter i dont want to much stuff in my tank but didnt have the room to build a wet dry my question is can i hook up the output of the filter to the skimmer to be skimmed and then the skimmer can send the water to the tank let me know thanks

if you do that it will greatly reduce the water flow of ur canister filter. why can't you just hang a skimmer behind your tank? Its less of a headache.

i dont want to many things in my tank i want all the stuff in one section i dont want the power head that goes to the skimmer to be seen

how big is your canister? or how big is the space where the canister is? how many lbs of LR do u have? can you take a pic of ur set up?

i found out that it wont work because it needs air to work and i cant get the air the filter
