I recently moved and have had the tank set up for approx 3 weeks now. I have one Bangaii cardinal (although he seems to be deteriorating) and some wine coloured mushrooms in my tank.

Last night I noticed that I have on the back glass near the bottom of the tank, I have some sort of crystal substance coating the glass. I tried to scrap it off and it broke apart and floated off into the water column.

It looks a lot like Salt creep, but I have never heard of it accumulating on the glass from the inside in water?? What else could it be? I tested for Ammonia and it is zero, Nitrates are about 3, which is lowest I have ever seen it in my tank.

Big snail???? I am just guessing here without a picture...It can't be salt creep...I would have to see it...but my snails can leave a lot of eggs in a wiggly kind of pattern and some in a circular type of pattern...that look like what you are describing...

I had something similar on my glass before I changed tanks. I think it's snail eggs too. Those can reproduce very quickly. Since snails are asexual, it would double the amount you'd have. IE, humans have a 1:2 child: parent ratio and asexual creatures have 1:1.

Correct me if I'm wrong someone cause this is merely my observation.
