just got pc lighting with 260 watts , 2 12000k and 2 actinic
it sits 6 inches up on legs from the top of the tank
Do I need to remove the glass tops in order for the lights to have full effect on my live rock? ( will the glass block some of the light )
by the way, is this enough light for my 125 (4x2x2 ft)

the glass top will block a tiny bit of light, but it won't make a difference at all, it will do more good then harm by keeping fish from jumping and keeping bugs and stuff from getting in
what are you planning to keep in the 125? you could keep most soft corals with what you have, but will it be fowlr? lps? sps? soft corals?
This will be enough for softies and most LPS corals, but thats a lot of tank depth to be cutting through for anything that is light demanding such as Maximas, corceas and SPS corals.
The glass will have minimal effect as long as you keep it clean and keep salt creep off both sides of the glass otherwise you will loose a lot of intensity.

Would agree with Imaexpat2.....the clean glass is the key and can easily be over looked because you can't always tell it by looking just at the tank...our eyes don't see the difference....as the glass gets dirty gradually over time so just remember to be on top of it!!!

yes thats one reason i went topless. i had enough of having to clean the glass lids every day

I went topless coz of the heat factor. i have computer fans blowing from the top down to cool off the water. in the winter i will have the glass put back to keep the heat in.
