I currently have a 125g and a 100g setup to a wet/dry sump filter system with some cichlids. I would like to consider switching both tanks to salt water (moving the cichlids else where). As I learn more about it, and see all your beautiful pictures I become more interested in switching over. One of my questions is could I use my existing filter system and if so would i have to do anything to it. Second of all what other hardware would I have to buy. I'm really trying to size up the cost to form a budget for the transfer and any details would be appreciated.
Thank you!

First, welcome to Coral Forum....Second what are your main goal in terms of switching into salt water? Is the tank going to be Fish Only, Fish Only with Live Rock, or Reef Tank? You got to let us know. Some of the equipment you have in the freshwater tank can be use in saltwater as long as you didn't use any chemical in the FW tank like copper that will leak out into your new set up.

Welcome! I agree, tell what you want to do. In the mean time read, read, and read some more! This is a great hobby!
