View Full Version : Lionfish condition is getting worse

My lionfish has been displaying some more strange behavior. He has began to swim while in a verticle position. He seems to have no control and will struggle to get to the top of the tank and then just sinks. The current in the tank tosses him around as if he has no control. He is unresponsive to food or other fish. It seem as if he has no control.

Doesn't sound good...How big is this fish??? What are you water parameters??? More than likely there is not anything you will be able to do to save a fish that is that far gone.... Very Sorry about that....:(

I noticed in your other post you said parametes were good. Can you give us the specific numbers? Has anyone lese in the tank been picking on him?

Sorry about your lion. It's hard to sit back and watch a fish suffer. Do you have a QT tank you can put him in to monitor his health rather than the main tank?

I don't have a QT tank. Parameters are
PH 8.0
Sal. 1.024
Nitrates/0
Nitrites/0
All other fish and corals are in great shape......the tank is about two years old

PS....he is in a reef tank, and none of the other fish have ever acted like they even knew he was there

I have a 10gal that I could put some of the tank water in with a hang on filter......would that be big enough?....how hard would it be to keep the levels Kosher in a tank that small?

If you fill it with water from the main tank, and do a 10-20% change every other day it should be fine.

So it's not doing any better? Have you seen any other outward signs of disease?

No......no other signs....other than his colors have darkened....but not in sick looking way
