Well, from that picture it appears to be a curly-Q anemone. But, if it is brownish in color then it is probably Aiptasia (or glass anemone) and you will want to get rid of it. There are a number of ways to get rid of Aiptasia. There are a number of other ways to get rid of them by injecting calk water or lemon juice or other things in to them. I prefer using Peppermint shrimp, but some people say that they may pick on corals when the Aiptasia is all gone. That has not been my experience though.

no its 100% clear like that. no doubt in my mind it is the clear anenome type thing in the picture.
no brown in it at all...
are they reef safe? or what?

Well, does it have the whitish markings like in the picture? If it is a curly-Q then it is considered by most to be "reef safe." Here is a page that describes the Curly-Q Anemone and has an image of a much larger specimen.

Hmm, well, could be. It's sometimes hard to tell. But, yes, it may very well die in the cycle process.
Tim,
she says its found on liverock from tampa bay area
When I talk with Marc at the Macna, I'll be sure to tell him that you called him a girl. (Just Kidding)
It's a dendrophylliia and it very well could survive the cycle. They're pretty tough. If they come from the Pacific, it's a different species http://www.oceanlight.com/lightbox.php?sp=Paracyathus_stearnsi
Since yours is from the Atlantic, it's most likely a balanophyllia. http://images.google.com/images?q=balanophyllia&hl=en
There are a lot of different species in the genus. Some, brown, orange, clear, etc.

Hmm, I was under the impression that those were phyllangia americana. Cup coral/hidden cup coral. http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=phyllangia+americana Pretty typical hitch hiker on gulf rock. http://www.tampabaysaltwater.com/thepackage/organisms.html
What do you think mantis? Obviously they are very similar species.
Very well could be. Those are also azooxanthalae dendros. We are not looking at a pic of the critter. We are looking at something that looks similar. I'm just guessing based on prior ID's that I've done. Basically, your guess is as good as mine. :)
