I have a 2.5 gallon tank I bought for my daughter to put goldfish in but we haven't used it in FOREVER. I has a 15 watt light bulb and a small filter.

When I buy new fish/corals, would this be a good enought container to acclimate the new inhabitants?

Also, when getting new fish, is it a bad idea to use this product (can't remember the name right now, but will find out) that helps minimize stress? Or is this overkill/marketing hype?

In my opinion a 2.5 gal tank may work for dipping coral...but not for qt -ing new fish...It makes a great small gold fish tank and a betta tank but not a qt tank! I know that there are many who use 10 gal tanks...for QT but that would be as small as I would go!!!! :) I personally use a 60 gal...but I know that is overkill....

That's cool. I originally thought I'd use that 2.5 as a refuge. I may stick to that idea. I'll have to treat this as a sump I suppose in that case. I just need a return pump ;)

Thanks Ron!

Well thanks, but understand we are all learning from each other around here...and you need to take some credit for being a good listener and learning...some just don't want to do that and you have done very good at asking questions and applying what you are learning…it is paying off for you…congrats!!!
