I just got certified. So in about 3 weeks I have to come down and sign off some work at my store in San Patrico. That said, I will be spending the nights in San Juan.

So if I fly down on Friday, work and party in the casinos that night. DIVE Saturday morning, 2 tanks. Then I have to wait 24 hours to fly again, Damn nitrogen.

Out Sunday afternoon late.

Where can I go or does anyone know someone in the business, I know that the best dive are west end and Fajardo and south.

But somewhere within a reasonable hour or so drive. I usually stay at the Sheraton in Old San Juan.

Any help wuld be appreciated.

Thanks
Scubbie Todd

Uh, when you say "Party" are you including drinking? Need I remind you that it is not advisable to drink the night be going diving?

That being said, I'm jealous! Wish I was going diving in Puerto Rico!

George and geris should be able to hook you up with some places to dive.

Don't drink Telco, I have a few mixers once in awhile but while in the casino's, I don't mix. The PR casino's are hard enough, you never win there.

Ok.... since you want to be just an hour drive away i would personally reccomend the little island of Culebra is off the Fajardo coast (east). You would need to get there by ferry or plane ($50). From my understanding there was a new fast ferry service from San Juan's port to Culebra the number is 1-877-228-3977.

If you have more time than just the 1 hr drive you could try La Parguera it's on the southwestern side of the main island in the town of Lajas. Great diving site, good wall there to explore, but depending on the weather strong currents.

I'll do more checking for you, so stay tuned...

Thanks George.

Being that I was just certified. The idea of strong currents for my first open ocean dive don't sound to relaxing just yet.

Fajardo is an easy drive from SJ. Anything in Rincon?

There's a few nice places in Rincon (about a 2hr drive from SJ.). You get to see lots of ocean tangs and a whole bunch of other sea life, just snorkled a small reef there the other day, visibility was not the best, but still managed to have a great time.

Hi Todd,

About 45 mins. at most 1 hr with traffic from San Juan its Isabela, a town where the beaches are great for snorkling and diving because there are lots of underwater caves (Atlantic Coast); best beach there for scuba is Jobos Beach, another great beach there is Shacks (more for windsurfing and kite surfing). http://www.gotopuertorico.com/go_beachesSports.php?language=english&page=5

Just down the street from where you'll be staying I think you can get an aquaplane or helicopter ride to Culebra. Once in Culebra you could go to Flamenco Beach, it has great coral reefs. http://www.gotopuertorico.com/go_beachesSports.php?language=english&page=9

Check out this web site for general info on Scuba in Puerto Rico http://www.gotopuertorico.com/go_beachesSports.php?language=english&page=37

HAVE FUN!! :)

Oh by the way; which one's your store in San Patricio?

I built the Bed Bath & Beyond. I just finished a few months back, one in Carolina and a few years ago, one in Bayamon.

I should start one in Ponce by the end of the year so that will open the south side to great diving for me.!!

Visit the stores and spent $$$ I need the stock to rise and split!!

Hey Todd, don't worry your stock is going to be rocketing because Im a Bed, Bath and Beyond FREAK!!!:w00t: Last year I remodeled my house and most of the stuff in it is from the San Patricio store, I think they see me at the door and clear a cash register....

You're going to be staying like half an hour from Fajardo where you can catch the ferry to Culebra, so that should be your goal. There's a couple of little islands off the coast of Fajardo called Palominos and Palominitos that are good diving spots too but I think the currents are a little stronger than Culebra's.

I wish I could join you but Im not diving anymore :( ....unfortunately I developed a mild heart condition...so since then I just snorkle....but have lots of fun and then comeback and tell us all about it.

Hi geris. heart conditions will stop you from diving. sorry to hear that.

Glad you like the stores!! The San Patricio store is the store I am coming down for. It has been open for like almost 2 years now and the developer still has not finished the punchlist. So we did it oursleves (me) and will deducted it from rent.

While I am down there I can save ya 20% on your total purchase. Better than the 20% one item coupon you getr in the mail.

Anyway. I am stoked to dive and packed my gear already.

I am not sure where they are taking me because it is off season, hope it is nice weather as welll.

Todd
