hi
well, my new clowns look pretty good, (names are zig and zag)
zag, however has aspot on his tail and has had since i got him,and he looks like he may have a bit of a white film on the back of his tail, but maybe i am seeing things i added copper but did not take out the carbon. so now i have removed the carbon, but am not sure if i should add more copper, dont have a test kit is really my problem. so i am going to do a water change today. but i am thinking maybe i will drop the salinity and just keep them in the qt tank another 3 weeks. what do you think???
Yes if you added copper and didnt take the carbon out then the carbon undoubtedly absorbed a good bit of the copper treatment. I would suggest doing a pretty sizable water change and dosing again. I would discard said used carbon as well. I really like to keep my fish in the QT for at least a couple of weeks unless its a big fish like a medium to large sized grouper or Trigger since I too use a 10 gallon as a QT tank.

ok, my clowns have been in there since 7-27, so llike 10 days. they are in a 29 gallon tank, so i am sure i underdosed anyway, always afraid to overdose. they are so adorable, already swimming to the front when i come down to observe. one of them, zig, likes to swim upsided down occasionally, i am thinking maybe they are not just miss barred, maybe they are a bit.... well, special. lol

ya it is
it seems i am always "blessed" with these type of critters. i mean, it kinda freaked me out, i could not find this clown, the tank sits rather low to the ground, its the qt tank, so i sat down and started looking and here it was, upside down in the corner. i thought oh crap, its a goner, and no sooner did this thought cross my nogan, and it started swimming like that, half way around the tank and then swam sideways for awhile and back to normal. he then saw me and came beggin for food. i got a good laugh out of it anyway. shrimp eating gobies, upside down clowns, silk pooping blue tangs, snail murdering hermits, and brittles that like to climb in your hand. sheesh. what an experience this tank has been !!

They are pricey as a mated pair...but you could buy a couple females "somewhere around $75.00 a piece" and one will morph into a male... :) Life finds a way!!!!! If you buy a matted pair it could run you as high as $450.00 and I have seen them go for $295.00... So watch for the sales...It is recommended not to keep them in anything smaller than a 70 gal...but others say 100 gal tanks...

found one for $98, so if you just get a female, it will change to a male??? the mysteries of the deep never cease to fascinate me.......

You would need more than one female....then one would become dominate and start the morph process!!!! You could buy a male if that is what you want to...and not worry about the morph thing at all!!!
