hey gang, well my tank is doing awesome, its been about 3 and a half months since i set it up, and i havnt lost a fish! i have a 30 gallon sump under my 150 gallon display tank that i built, and im lookin for ideas on how to imcorperate a 10 gallon tank into a refugium into the setup. id prefer to have it hidden under the stand, but any ideas are welcome. right now its a 150, stand, and a 30 gallon tank as a sump. Lets hear the ideas!

thanks, kevin ps. i am very handy and can build pretty much anything, all i need to do is see a picture, so pics would be sweet.

get a small 50-100 gph powerhead in the first chamber of your sump, run it to your 10 gallon, than on that powerhead run a floatswitch (should help you from overflowing)

than at the end of your refugum buy another 50-100gph powerhead, run that back to the sump.

that way, the water level should never overflow if you have a float switch, when water is pumped out, it turns on turning on the pump, but if the 2nd pump goes out, than it will stop pumping water (water level reaches maximum.)

if your good with DIY, that's what i would do. its kind of ufnny, i have no idea how to do it, but thats a possibility

sorry no pic...but this what i did. i have 65 gal tank and space underneath are tight so i built 2 tanks...one for the sump and one for the refugium. it's 15L-12W-14H. i was going to do what tim said but don't want to use anymore powerheads so i split the intake from the Overflow..one goes to the sump and one to the fuge. in the fuge i have few baffles that the water has to go thru then it overflow into the sump. that way u don't have to worry about overflowing or putting another pump that sucks some electricity and taking up space. I'm kinda handy myself in terms of building things as long as have tools on hand. I'm sure that you already have something in your mind that how to implement it.

Sounds like a great setup. You DIY'ers rule! I'm more of a TIYer: Try It Yourselfer!

My opinion.. I would see if I could have the ten gallon drilled or buy it predrilled professionaly.. Have the one PH pump into the tank but have it flow out of the tank useing a durso or just a standpipe without resrictions back into the sump.. K.I.S.S.... The more switchs floats and pumps you have the more likely you could have an issue.. Gravity wins imo.
