It looks a lot like a Fancy Banded Serpent, doesn't look dark enough to be a Fancy Brittle....but can't tell for sure...Did it come on the new Live Rock????

Brittle stars and serpent stars are the same thing.....ophiuroids.

And yes, that is one.

Yes...But I think technically there is a difference...the fancy brittle "Ophiura sp" .. and the fancy serpent "ophioderma sp"...the fancy yellow brittle "Ophiothrix sp", The Tiger-striped Fancy Serpent Sea Star "Ophiolepsis superba" all are ophiuroids but there is a difference!

I didn't get ONE, I got FOUR of them! And so far, they are all alive :D

will they compete with one another and possibly kill each other?

seriousely? If I remember my elementary science correctly, if the the appendages break, a new one will grow and the broken appendage will become a new star, right?
