hi all,
New here and new to salt water, :-D
I have 12 african cichlid tanks.
i have just set up my first salt tank.

Question.? will my amonia, nitrite and nitrate kits work with salt water?
I know PH needs to be salt, but says nothing about wether my kits are fresh only.

cheers

Some do and some don't....what is the brand of your kits??? Most will say salt and fresh or fresh....salt....

Kits are "Aquarium Phamaceuticals" i just found the original box (after much digging in piles of aquarium stuff)
Doesnt say fresh or salt on the bottles but on the box it says "freshwater test kit" so i guess i shoulda seached for the box earlier, :-D
looks like im off to the LFS tomorrow, for a salt water kit.
cheers for the reply Doc :-D

some of the AP kits are both but have a different color chart, i know ammonia is and i believe nitrate if i remember right, i think ph maybe as well but you need the high range kit, but if your keeping africans you probably have that one as they require high ph water too

there are many ways to run a healthy sw tank, just start slow and figure out what works for you
