Months ago I had some ICH, white & black spots, I added some copper safe to my 75 gal FOWLR tank. I removed all the snails/crabs and such.
I added the snails back in, but they died. I bought a couple of turbos and they didn't make it past 24 hours.
All my parameters were good, had the LFS check it also. I figured I would wait a while and try again.
It's been several months and water changes since that time. Saturday, I had the LFS check the water, everything was great. I bought a turbo snail. I acclamated him properly and placed him in the tank. He moved around abit, so I thought I was finally good. Sunday morning, he was hard as rock, no I don't mean the shell  . I am at a loss as to why. :? Right now I have two crabs in there with no problems.
Anybody have any ideas, thoughts...

Did you use copper safe in the display??? If you did those snails are probably being poisoned by the copper....You should never add copper to a tank that you are planning on putting inverts....because even if it has been several months and you have changed out the water...the copper residue is still present in the rocks, etc...

I agree with Doc if you used copper based treatment then your snails are being poisioned.

Copper leeches into your rock and sand. I have even heard that it adheres to the glass and silicone seams too. You may never be able to keep the sensitive inverts, or, maybe in a few years of water changes.

Wow tough lesson. The copper safe imo is the culprite. Ive heard that Activated Carbon can assist in lowering copper residuals and I have heard of people shouting about possible copper imbedded in the silicone of their tanks.. To be honest im not sure what to beleive other then copper is bad for any sensitive inverts.. I am in a somewhat simmilar prediciment with a 55 gal that someone dosed copper in a couple years ago FOWLR currently and im not man enough to put some inverts in to see if they will croke.. I prolly should just to see but sentenceing 75cent snails to possible death on purpose just isnt my thing.. Hunting hermits are bad enough...

Good luck
