Ok, i was excited to learn that my Ro/Di unit was waiting for me on my front porch. When I got home, I was not surprised to find the box very beaten up.

The DI beads spilled out everywhere and the TDS case was broken (more like shattered).

I have waited two weeks on this thing and havent made any water for my tank. And believe me, it needed it. I never got it the unit hooked up and my tanks return was blowing TONS of bubbles because it was low on water.

After about an hour of inspecting, I decided all was well with the unit.

Well, I had two choices: leave the flow of water off until I got the unit together OR make water using tap-water. I chose to make water. I have this product, Kent Freshwater Chlorinex Complete. It is supposed to instantly fix the water and make it tank-safe so I used it. Does anyone know much about this product?

Well, AquaSafe is going to replace whatever it is I ask them to so they have earned my respect and tomorrow, I'm gonna get this thing running.

I'm still happy that I got it though :D

It is too bad that the unit was damaged...I don’t know anything about Chlorinex...other then it declorinates the water... Once you get your ro/di going you will really like the water quality!! ;)

so i'm guessing you used tap water and removed the chlorine with the chlorinex...

you still added the contaminants to your tank...if you still have to wait on the rodi, i suggest getting drinking water from the market...

Good suggestion. With luck, I'll have this sucker running tomorrow...I made one gallon out of tap so that should last me at least till Saturday.(2 days)

When you say you made up one gallon...are you talking replacement water for the water that evaporated or did you make up a gallon of salt-water for a water change??? If you are just doing replacement water you know you don't mix salt for that right????

My bad...I didn't add salt...I meant I 'made' replacement water.

Ok.... that means you could buy a gallon of ro water from the store to get you by until Sat...and dump the tap water out if you wanted to.... ;)

One thing that puzzles me about the unit is this final 6th filter...It's for taking out the odor and taste before it hits an icemaker or whatnot. Should I filter through that or stop after the DI (5th stage)?

It is up to you...but if it doesn't hurt why worry about it....Just use it...How many gallons per day does this unit do???

100 gpd...I wsn't sure if the final stage might actually add something to remove the odor and taste..I assume it's just activated carbon though.

No it won't add anything will just be a final stage in the process!!!!
