I have a 450L tank (approx 188.88gallons)

and i need it to go up 1meq.

the instructions say to add _ML of the product to top off water = 1meq/l x you tank volume in gallons

can anyone help me? i dont get the 1meq/l . does it mean /L of top off water or of my whole tank?

Soory I cant help you at the moment as I am not at home. I do use this product and will look at the instructions a little later tonight before I open my mouth and put my foot in it.

MikeS is probably a better person to asnwer this one than I am although Im not sure if he uses this product. If your having issues with trying to maintain Alk then there are some other things you might want to check as I understand that things such as Ph and Calcium can affect this too.

Here's an article about balancing calcium and alkilinity. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/chem.htm

I can't help you with the dosing because I've never used an alk buffer before.

Here is a link to the directions. Click Here for Directions (http://www.seachem.com/products/product_pages/ReefCarbonate.html)

One thing you will have to look at is this. Use 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 gallons) twice a week. Since your tank is 450 L. You will have to divide 450/80=5.625. Which means you will have to dose roughly 5.5 capfuls or (27.5 mL) for your tank to raise it by .25 meg\L.

Each dose will raise alkalinity by about 0.25 meq/L. Size or frequency of dose can be adjusted, but do not exceed 1 meq/L per day. Which means you can not dose no more then 22 capfuls in your tank or you will be doing to much. If I were you I would dose half of that which is 11 capfuls one day and wait 24 hours then check your specks and if needed add more or less depending on where your speck are at.

Thanks for the pick me up guys I forgot Seachem made this in a liquid too, as I usually use the powdered form as its way cheaper and I have a gang of tanks to deal with...
