I have recently purchased a powder blue tang (he was only $29 after a great sale). I have been reading up on them and everything so far has said they are for advanced fish keepers. What makes them harder to keep then other fish? I already have a blue tang, yellow tang and sail fin tang who I have on a varied diet: brine, mysis (with and without algae), nori and treated with zoe and vitachem (or something close-they all looked sickly when I got them back from the people we sold them to) along with some spinach and garlic occasionally. What kind of macro algae would you suggest I propagate to feed to them? Thank you

I have had my Powder Blue for 5 months almost 6 now.

My "Opinion" is that you need to have really good hiding space for them. Also you want to QT them for a good long while. My Powder Blue got ich shortly after adding him into the main tank. Which then spread to a LOT of my other fish and I lost some of them. It was a VERY hard lesson learned as I lost the fish I could pet and hold.

Anyway, make sure he can hide and give him a wide diet of food. Its hard to get them eating. Mine will eat some brands of seaweed but not others. There very picky eaters. I also always keep a clip in there with fresh seaweed on there. This way he picks at that a lot and stays away from the meaty foods.

Other than that I think its the luck of the draw and being able to pick a fish that is tamed and personal.
