hi
my large tomato clown really loves her new sand bed. she is like a little propeller in there stirring it up all the time. its great and really fun to watch. the problem? just a small one. my hob filter keeps getting sand in the propeller. any suggestions? it grinds and gets really loud. cut the tube to as short as it can go, she still manages to get sand in it. kinda funny, but i think it will kill this pump off eventually
thanks!

Clowns do that, and although they see no problem with it, it does wreak havoc in our tanks. My clarkii used to cover my corals with sand on a regular basis.

Can you move the HB away from the area the clown is excavating? If tha't not an option you can alwyas tie some filter pad material around the intake area to block the sand from entering the HOB

Try finding some sponge filters for it. You will have to swap them out every couple of days. I bought a pack of four for around $12.00 and I keep them on my power heads. I swap them out every week and than clean the spares.
