I have 3 Astrea snail in my 12g Nano, and several Blue Leg Hermits in my 2g Pico.

I would like to put a couple of hermits in my 12g...will the hermits eat the snails?

Will my shrimp eat the hermits?

Hermits are "as MikeS would say” If I can quote him here! :) - opportunistic eaters...They can kill snails and have...but not all the time...I have keep snails and hermits together and they do fine...you just never know...I would do what you want to as many of us keep them both...just don't over do it!!! :) I keep shrimp and hermits together and have for a long time and never had a problem with them eating each other unless they were dead first!!!

I too have both and have never had a problem. I've been told that you should keep several sizes of empty shells for the hermits to move in to as they grow to help keep them from attacking the snails for their shells.

Also, I've heard certain types of hermits are more aggresive than others. You may want to consider getting some Mexican Red Leg Hermits. They are a bit smaller than others and will also eat Cyano. One place I've found them is >>Here (http://www.fishsupply.com/cgi-bin/f2/common/store.cgi?dbname=f2&path=top/C/CB/CBM00)<<.
