That looks like diatoms to me.

when i first looked at the post there wasn't a pic there, how strange, Fishins right its diatoms, prefectly normal in a new tank, how longs your tank been set up?

New tanks go through this...if you can increase flow, add some cleanup crew, and reduce the nutrients...and it will pass!!! :)

Diatoms are usually caused by silicates in the water....using RO/DI instead of tap water will help...also diatoms are a favorite "pod" food...if you have pods in your tank from your LR, you just may want to let it run its couse and build up your pod popualtions...
