Yeah, that's a great deal! Just remember no to shock your inhabitants with too much light all at once. Gradually introduce more light day by day, week by week.
I guess this depends on what type of lighting you had previously, but since your signature does not include any corals or anemones I'd be willing to bet that you should do light acclimation.

actually i do have some coral some sand polyps and some stars and some mushrooms plus two anemones. i had a 130 watt power compact

Now you have nuclear capabilities as far as light is concerned!!! :) The MH is a huge increase in light...do acclimate your inhabitants to the increase...

I might even go slower...increase by 1/2 hrs...and give it more than a day...then just pay attention to how things are responding...There are posts dealing with lighting acclimation that you can get more detailed information…

only one bad thing i haveto switch thefans and the moon lights they are on the wrong swtches but othwise its great. for some reason the fans are on their own switch and the leds come on with the mh?

Doctor_Reef

Hmmmmmmmmmm.... shouldn't the fans come on with the HM and the LEDs come on a separate switch??? Let us know how it turns out????

What website would Odysee be from that you procured your lighting.. Or was it from a local dealer.. trying to get more information on your lighting and was thinking it might be right for 1 of my applications.

How many plugs are with your system? I have ordered something similar, and I'm concerned about getting things set up on different timers if they're all on one plug. I'm pretty sure I could rewire it if I have to, but it would be better if it's already done.

Nice new zoo rock, BTW!

Thanks in advance for any info you furnish.

well it is all on one plug but i found timmers at my local hardwear store that plugged right in where the cords comming out of the external ballast are spliced and they work fine hope you have the same luck.

Well, that looks like it would be simple enough, anyway. Still, I'm interested to see what the timers look like. You are so kind to share your experiences.

I like those blue pics! Were they with actinic only, or is that the moon lights?

steve20

Just curious...What's the impact of that much lighting on your electricity bill? I have been concerned about that while planning my new tank

Steve20:

Has your hardware store gotten you your timer yet? If not, could you post what brand/type it is? My light comes tomorrow, and I don't want to miss an on/off time.

Thanks a lot!

Bummer. I'll do some checking once my light gets here. My dad works in the electrical supply business, so maybe one of his associates can hook us up. I'll let you know as soon as I do.
