Coral or not

I found this white spherical growth with a seemingly honeycomb like texture and a protusion on top that looks like a crown that I cannot identify. It is growing off a rock fragment that I purchased with a small leather on it. Any help if you can tell something from the attached picture would be appreciated.

It's hard to see, but my guess is a sponge. Sponges are filter feeders and can benefit a tank by helping to clean the water.

Welcome to CF...and I would agree that it looks like a sponge...although it is a little hard to tell by the photo...??? Again Weclome!!!

Looks like a Q-tip sponge. Also called Pineapple sponge.

Thanks to all that responded so quickly. I had a feeling that it was a sponge but was not sure. I feel very welcome and look forward to more online discussions as I learn more. :-D
