okay. my tank has been set up for about 2 months. i have about 30lbs of live rock and my lighting system is a 2x65 watt 10,000k power compact and a power compact actinic blue light. its only a 29 gallon tank and i was told that would be enough to hold corals. on one of my rocks theres something with a lot of red coral on it and it will stick out of the rock about 1/4 of an inch and at one end it moves out to a point and opens up like a mouth but if you get close to the tank it flies back into the rock. i noticed one of my turbo snails on it earlier and it stuck out about an inch leaning side to side trying to get the snail off.
and the other thing is something we bought. they are white/green tubes that stick out about 4 inches and they have green flower looking things on them that wave around in the tank.i cant get good pictures inside my tank and i havnt been able to find anything that looks like it online but it glows under the actinic lights and the orbit lights that we have.

Boy, I am not sure what they are...It would be helpful to see a picture...even if it isn't the greatest quality!!!!

alright. ill take some pics tomorrow when the batteries in the camera have charged some. i have that bubble coral and i think its dead. its completely shrivled up and it looks like a small piece of it has just fell apart onto the rock below it. should i hurry and take it out or wait a day or 2 to just see if its adjusting to the new tank?

The pictures would really help...Bubble corals do shrink up and come back...Just watch it for a couple days and see if it comes back...I have a bubble and it shrinks up every night and opens up in the light...Make sure it is in moderate light and moderate water flow ...

ron, is that second one yours? is it really that smart to put a urchin in with a reef tank? or is that urchin reef safe?

Same bubble coral as the one above…and I have 3 sea urchins in my tank…they love the coralline algae, but all other things these particular urchins are leaving alone…They for the most part have been reef compatible… :)

The bubble looks dead to me, but I have heard of surprising recoveries, so I would still hold it for a while.
I have no idea about the red thing.
The mushrooms will be fine. They will adjust over time.
Does that leather ever extend its polyps? Try to make sure it has a good berth, without other corals directly downcurrent from it. They can be a bit toxic when stressed. It will need medium flow to help it open again. (That is, IF it isn't already.)

I think FITD is right...if you look at my closed bubble and compare it to yours, yours doesn't look to good!!! Ditto’s with everything else!!

Well, I guess I am not alone...most are fairly reef safe as long as you know what they like to eat...mine are of the algae eating kind… and love algae...even my purple coraline!!!
The one in the picture is the Black Longspine Urchin, These urchins are excellent algae controllers! They forage for food such as algae and seaweed. These urchins are an excellent algae controller in the reef tank…but leave other things alone… So really I don’t have a problem with it at all…My wife calls it sputnik … she thinks it looks like a satellite!!

lol, ron, I have bad experiences with those urchins, they are native to hawaii and when I was like 7 and snorkling w/o fins, I stepped on one of those, they are venemous so it hurt like a mother :( my dad said peeing on yourself helps, it kinda did but not really, later I found out that my dad was joking and peeing doesn't help, it was all mental hehehe

I think the "red thing" is a little hermit crab.

lol no not the crab. its in front of the crab on the rock.

hard to tell from the photo, but it appears to be a bivalve of some sort, perhaps a mussel...
yeah, I'd say the bubble coral is a goner...lots of tissue loss there. Your best bet is to move it to a lower flow, shady area of the tank, keep your water quality high, and hope for the best. Bubbles are quite resiliant, it may make a comeback....
