My Percs are laying eggs! :) But...they are eating them as fast as they lay them! :? This is their first time so I guess this is to be expected. I figured they were getting ready to do this. They seemed to be preparing a spot on the rocks and the female has been particularly agressive lately.

Good thing humans don't behave so!

That's really exciting though! Are you thinking of rearing some fry down the road? I don't think I would have the patience for breeding clowns, but I still kinda wish mine would spawn. It would be neat to see.

Congrats, sort of.

Thanks. :doubt:

I am planning on rearing some fry down the road. That's why I tried to create this pair. The first part has worked, now it's just hoping that they will figure out that they are not supposed to eat the eggs.

Ditto! Hopefully next time around they won't snack on them.

yeah, good luck, hopefully you can get a few not to get eaten :) watch your clowns closely, I guess you could try to move some of the fertilized eggs to a seperate tank, at all times, keep them in water, but when you move them, it may stop your clowns from laying more eggs in that batch

The problem is that they eat them as fast as they lay them. Also, they were laying them on a rather large rock so moving it is not an option.

As I mentioned before, I think this is just because this is their first attempt at this. I'm not really ready to handle the fry anyway.

Well, we'll have to see how many (if any) I end up with. (Especially if I need to sell any to the LFS to off-set the cost of raising them. ;) )

Well, for now I am. I'm actually looking into going back to school and may move south to go to Cal State San Marcos. I am also looking for a new job and have applied at a few places in Reno, NV as well as here in Orange County. We'll have to wait and see where I get a job first.
