Hey All, This is my first saltwater tank, and my biggest tank. I picked it up today and got him around 6 pm. Took it up stairs, well with the help of my dad haha, and set it up.

My Brother and I built the lighting mount 2 MH compacts. Here is a picture of the tank, I will post more once I get my sump. It is a very cool and clean set up.

Thanks for looking, more updates to come!

Im afraid the hood is plastic so its is very thing to cut and support fans in IMO.

The good thing though on the hood in the back, there are 2 huge wholes, i mean its like huge. So I am going to mount 2 fans on my lighting mount to pull air out and than mount a fan by each fan to blow the hot air away.

hopefully this can cool it down.

PLUS the tank has a glass top to keep the water down. I think it will also help keep the hot air off the water.

IS it ok to use goo be gone on tanks? They put like 5 stickers on this thing and 2-3 of them left sticky stuff, it's on the inside...

Nice advice Bigfoot, I mean seriously, do you really want his fish to be drinking bacardi superior, or whiskey??? Lol jk, mine had sone sticky stuff, and I just got a wet towel and rubbed really hard and it eventually peeled off.

White distilled vinegar is what I use for all the cleaning in my tank, from pumps to glass.

Little hot water did the trick.

Just finished painting the back of my tank like 3 hours ago. Let it dry and put my hood on.

Yesturday I finished putting in 4 fans into the hood. Right now I am testing the whole set up to make sure the fans actually make a different, good news: so far so good :)

My sister's graduation was today so my mom stole the digital camera, so I'm going to put pics tomorrow for you guys once I find it.

my 2 cents... You might have heat issues with the glass tops on the tank.. Altho if you remove them you might have issues with water splashing on your mh bulbs.... A catch 22 in my opinion.. Keep posting, I like seeing how everyone else does it and is a great learning experience for all. :-D

yeah, as geoffrey said, mh's really heat things up, as long as the glass doesn't melt or shatter I think you'll be fine, just try not to touch the glass for atleast 5 minutes after you turn off you lights

i left my lights on for 6 hours and put my hands on the glass and they were fine. it was like touching a hot plate or something, not bad or anything.
