Stomatellas are snails (Slugs have no shell.), and they are both fast growers and breeders. Consider yourself lucky, because they are truly excellent algae eaters on the rock and glass!

A Stomatella is actually a snail. They feed on micro algae... nothing to worry about.

I can't say if they are fast growers or breeders... but I can say they are a very good hitchhiker to find!!

Jase, can you get a pic of it so we can tell you for sure what it is? Stomatellas do look like there is no shell, but there is one there.

I agree, they do look like slugs... the shell is not like a typical snail shell. It's more flat on its back. I wish I had a good pic but this is the best one I got... Maybe it will help??
