I have a teal acropora bottlebrush i beleive, and it has stopped showing any kind of polyp extension, it's flesh is looking kind of scaley. Now before you say well it's bleaching or tissue is ejecting it has been like this for the last month it's still alive, because i fragged a few pieces from it and the area of the break shows color coming back, i can "smell" the coral when i take it out of the water.. and it smells fine, i did a tech-D dip about 2 weeks ago and didn't help, the coral is showing VERY slow tissue loss near the base, the rest of the animal has a scaley appearance and what looks to be duetritus hanging from the coral, although white... when i mix up the sand and blow the junk all over the tank it still sheds a mucus layer so the coral seems to be alive and fundtioning but this is strange i would ask if ANYONE has heard of this or knows any way to treat it.. lugols dips have no effect
Sounds to me like it's not getting enough flow. I had a acro go through something very similar and it turned out the spot he was in wasn't turbulent enough for it. I would move it to a higher flow area and see what happens.

Heres a picture of the coral maybe you know what it is or have an idea, i have watched it for hours and not seen any type of red bug or any bug for that matter, I have subjected it to another "dip" and will be looking for something bacterial if thats doesn't help

this i am most certain is not flow related
