I have ich, well not me personally  my clown.
I only have 3 fish, 2 clowns and a firefish. The others seem ok.
Should I treat all 3 in my quarantine tank, its only 9 gals (too small for all 3?) or should I just treat the sick fish? :?
I have lots of inverterbretes in my main tank, and am still a bit suspicous of reef friendly medications, is it safe to medicate the main tank?
My sick fish still seems fine, eats well, swims about a little , though she has got much shyer.
Need some advice please! :)

Thanks all

I would put your fish in the QT tank and treat them. All they need in there is something to hide behinds and a heater. They should be fine in there. I would keep them in there for at least a month.

I agree with Brad. The problem with pulling only the one clown and leaving the others in the main tank, is that there are still ich parasites, egss and larvae and it's not really a matter of if they get ich, it's when they will get it. Pulling all three fish and medicating them is your best bet, and as Brad mentioned, keep them in QT for at least 30 days. It takes that long for any eggs to hatch, larvae to develop and adult parasites to die off in the main tank, from not having a fish to keep them going.

Toss a couple of 2" PVC pieces/elbows in the QT for them to hide in.

ok thanks guys....
am going to buy the medication this week and QT the fish on the weekend. Its going to be difficult getting them out, especially the firefish as that one hardly ever comes out of the rock work!!
thanks again :-D

I QT'ed the poor little fish, stressing like crazy! Now i have got a better look i dont think its ich, got a photo, does anyone know what this is? Its like something is eating into her skin, looks like an open wound. The other 2 fish are still fine, so i left them in the main tank at the moment, wanted to get your opinions?? :) thanks all

Looks like it could be marine velvet. Is it like there is a slimey coating on her skin? If so that could be marine velvet. Most Ich medications will get rid of MV too. Read the back and it will probably tell you.

yeah i suppose, looks slivery and like her scales are falling off. I thought it my be some form of fungus as the other2 are fine, but does this mean that i should QT the others aswell?

It could be brooklynellosis as well. That tends to show up with lesions. If it is brook, then copper won't cure it, you'd need to use formalin.

run through these articles to see which one best describes the symptoms your fish is showing. The picture is too blurry to tell.

thanks it sounds like broolynellosis... i think it might be too late as she wasnt looking too great this morning..... hope she's still alive after i get back from work. will it be safe to QT the other 2 with her.

as ive already started treatment can i just restart treatment for the other 2 with her still in the QT ?
